These packs are made from Li-FeP04 material.  This type of battery can endure hundreds of cycles!  The output voltage is 6.6V to match a Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh pack.  You do require a charger capable of charging a Li-FeP04 battery.

The output Voltage is 6.6V so a voltage regulator is not  needed.
